Solar Panel Install

We perform the solar survey and removal at the same time. All solar panels, racking, and wiring is removed from the roof (in the event of a roof replacement) and stacked neatly on the property in a place of your choosing. We recommend a garage or protected place, if possible. After your roof is replaced, we return to reinstall the wiring, racking, and solar panels in the same layout as we removed them. Once reinstalled, we recommission the solar array, so you are once again solar powered!

No worries. The panels are made to withstand the elements. We can stack them neatly in the yard, under a deck, or other options on the property.

Solar installations require a permit to be installed initially. Most cities and counties perceive a solar removal and reinstallation as maintenance which does not require a permit. If your local jurisdiction requires a permit, please tell our staff right away. Permits are not included in the quote unless added. Permits would add cost to the project for the customer and may lengthen timelines for work to be completed.

Reinstallation of your solar panels in the same design as removed generally allows us to perform the work without a permit. To change the design, a permit and engineering work would be necessary. This would add at least $1,000 in cost to the project and could lengthen the process by several weeks. Please ask for a quote for the additional work if a change in design is necessary for your home.

A solar removal and reinstallation project is a labor-intensive process. It includes the labor of two solar installations. Other costs incurred include materials to replace penetrations and flashings to protect against leaks and support staff to ensure you have a seamless, excellent experience with the solar work on your home.

All penetrations in the roof are replaced to safeguard against rainwater getting in. Some solar maintenance contractors cut corners to offer lower pricing by reusing penetrations materials. This could result in future leaks. To give you peace of mind, we replace all penetrations to keep the elements out and your roof sealed.

If you have experienced damage to your solar array, we have you covered. If you know what is damaged, we can give you an initial quote for the work. Additional work is not included in the price of solar removal and reinstallation. If you are unsure of why the solar panels are not working properly, we can perform a solar survey to understand the issue(s) when we remove the equipment and perform work to remedy the issue(s) when we return for solar reinstallation. A common example of damage is squirrel damage if you have tall trees near the home. We can fix the damage and install critter guards to protect your solar investment.

Any pre-existing damaged equipment we find upon arrival is documented and quoted for the additional work. It is not mandatory you agree to the additional quoted work, it is optional. Any equipment damaged during construction of the removal and reinstallation is covered by Fusion Solar Services. Theft or damage which occurs in between removal and reinstallation is the responsibility of the homeowner.
